The British Touring Car Championship’s annual visit north of the border to Knockhill provided plenty of close racing with the title battle thrown wide-open after leader Colin Turkington’s best result was a single 4th place.
Race 1 featured a popular victory for home hero Rory Butcher (Honda Civic Type R FK2) who fought off a late challenge from Andrew Jordan’s BMW 330i M Sport.
Jordan got his revenge in race 2 as Butcher struggled with the addition of ‘success ballast’, Dan Cammish (Honda Civic Type R FK8) scored yet another podium in 2nd place. Rory Butcher also took a 5 place grid penalty for the 3rd race after tipping Colin Turkington into a spin.
The final (reverse grid) race of the day saw Jake Hill on pole in his Audi S3 and he duly reeled off the 27 laps to finish just over a second clear of Josh Cook’s Honda Civic Type R FK8 with Adam Morgan (Mercedes Benz A-Class) completing the podium.
Turkington’s championship lead was slashed to just 10 points from Andrew Jordan with Dan Cammish, Josh Cook and Rory Butcher still in with a shout for the 2019 BTCC title.
